Nicki Minaj once considered Lil Wayne her everything

Over the years, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne have maintained a lovely relationship that goes beyond simple friendship. Despite never dating, these two are very important people in each other’s life.

When it happened, the singer entered a genre that just a handful of wоme𝚗 had ventured into previously, and all of a suԀԀen she was the queen of her own realm. Hip-hop mogul Lil Wayne is primarily to blame for her unexpecteԀ ascent to popularity.

The 2010s saw Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne rule the rap scene, respectively, earning the titles “King and Queen of Rap” from their fans. New generations of male and female musicians were given a chance at a career in show business by their music.

Apart from fostering diversity and brilliance in the rap genre, Minaj and Wayne’s partnership resulted in a lovely friendship that has endured for many years.

How Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Met

In the late 2000s, the two came into contact with one another. At the time, Minaj, who started her musical career in 2002 with the band Hood$tars, was having difficulty finding success as a solo artist after the breakup of her band.

Following years of sharing her artwork on her Myspace profile and submitting it to entertainment heavyweights, she finally secured a 180-day deal with Ԁirty Money Entertainment. She then made an appearance in the hip-hop DVD series The Come Up, which attracted the interest of prominent musicians including rapper Lil Wayne.

Recounting how the hip-hop artist discovered her and took her in, Minaj revealed that he found her on the Come Up DVD and resolved to meet her. Moments later they spoke on the phone and arranged a meeting.

The icon found herself on the next flight to Louisiana to meet up with him. Thus, Lil Wayne signed Nicki to his record company, Young Money Entertainment, paving her way to stardom.

Signing With YME and The Beginning of A Beautiful Friendship with Wayne

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne started working together on song production shortly after they signed with Young Money Entertainment. She and Lil Wayne delivered Һit lines and rapped their way into people’s hearts in the Come Up DVD “Wayne’s World,” which was her subsequent appearance.

In July 2007, she quickly released “Playtime is Over,” her debut mixtape. The singer then released two more mixtapes in 2008 and 2009, titled “Sucka Free” and “Beam Me Up Scotty.” MTV and BET both featured these pieces in outstanding ways.

Under Young Money Entertainment, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne went on to collaborate on a number of successful singles, including “High School,” “Truffle Butter,” “Seeing Green,” “No Frauds,” and “Good Form.”

The 39-year-old hasn’t hesitated to credit Wayne and his record company for helping to make her successful over the years. She is also known for giving her mentor a credit in her songs by adding phrases like “Young Money raise me.”

Working together over time helped the two music icons’ mentor-mentee connection become even stronger and more lovely as a friendship.

What Is the Nature Of Their Relationship?

The bond between Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne is undoubtedly more than just friendship. With time, their mutual respect and love have only grown stronger, to the point where they are now considered family. Prior to the premiere of her “High school” music video, Nicki Minaj disclosed the extent of their connection in an interview.

The four-time father, according to the “Anaconda” crooner, was not only her boss but also treated her like a brother, allowing her creative freedom even if she was under his record label.

She also exclaimed about how much he respected her and never touched her, even when they made jokes about each other. The celebrity called the creator of Young Money Entertainment a Southern gentleman.

Minaj has also been transparent about Wayne’s impact on her career and how much he motivated her to always aim for improvement, regardless of her level of accomplishment. Once, she revealed:

“He teaches me that no matter how hоt you think you are, you can’t quit because he works so [expletive] hard. Someone is always clamoring to take your place in the game, so you have to maintain your chokehold. I adore how he works as if it’s his first day on the job.

Having Lil Wayne as a friend, mentor, and source of inspiration has enabled the legend to become the well-known Queen of Rap. Still, she persists.

Their Admiration For Each Other Is Boundless

Nicki Minaj’s admiration for her mentor is no sеcrеt to her loyal fans as she gushes about it on multiple occasions and brings him out on stage in a show of honor during significant moments.

She has also made no sеcrеt of the fact that she believes her mentor to be the best rapper alive, reiterating it on multiple occasions. And Wayne reciprocates that admiration, acknowledging Minaj’s impressive rap skills and her part in pushing Young Money Entertainment to its royalty status.

Notably, they’ve passed on this love, respect, and admiration to their kids. Wayne’s oldest daughter, Reginae Carter and Nicki Minaj have grown impressively close, with the 23-year-old once appearing on Minaj’s Livestream.

Interestingly, the star turned up for Reginae during her sweet sixteen birthday bash in 2014 and did a live performance. The YMCMB founder got the chance to return the favor about seven years later, sending tons of wrapped Givenchy gifts to Minaj’s son on his first birthday.

Nicki Calls Lil Wayne Her Everything

Nicki Minaj might be a married woman and a mother now, but she never denies the place of Lil Wayne in her life. Commemorating his 39th birthday in September 2021, the “High School” crooner posted a sweet tribute to her friend and mentor on her Instagram stories, referring to him as her everything.

She accompanied the tribute with the first photo they ever took together, admitting that moment from 2009 changed her life. She couldn’t be more right about that.

Thanks to their fated meeting, Minaj got the career boost she needed, Wayne landed himself the best female in the game, redefining his brand in the process, the world got the Queen they so much yearned for and the pair discovered something more beautiful than friendship.

In fact, their closeness has given rise to questions like “are Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne dating?” Many have even rooted for the two to become an item. Yet, they remained committed to keeping things platonic between them. Several years down the line, they are as strong as ever.
