According to Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department reached 310 million streams on its release date, surpassing the record of Midnights – the album she released in 2022 (185 million streams). The album’s opening single – Fortnight (sung with Post Malone) – reached 25.2 million streams, surpassing Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You to become the song with the most streams in a day.

On Apple Music, Taylor Swift became the first artist to have all the songs on her new album enter the global top 50. The Talk of the charts page – specializing in predicting chart positions – believes that next week, the singer will monopolize the top 12 hottest songs of the week on the Billboard Hot 100. Taylor Swift released the double album The Tortured Poets Department, which was considered one of the biggest music events of the year. On the fanpage, the singer wrote: “I have written many painful poems in the past two years and want to share them all with you. Now the stories are no longer mine, they are yours.”

The record has a synth-pop sound, mixed with rock and folk. On Metacritic – a system that aggregates reviews from critics, the album received a positive score of 84/100, with most giving positive comments about the album. Billboard analyzed the record as “a series of unbridled emotions and drama”, while Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield called it “Taylor Swift’s most personal” album.
